Routine Maintenance & Garage Door Openers

Routine maintenance
To enhance the operation, longevity and safety of your garage door and opener, yearly maintenance should be performed by experienced professional using approved materials. The maintenance should include tightening, lubricating, adjusting and testing of all garage door and opener components.

Garage door openers
Garage door openers provide ease of access to your garage from your vehicle. There are three basic residential opener types –chain, screw, or belt drives. The quietness and maintenance requirements improve from the chain to the belt drive. They come in one third, one half and three quarter horsepower models. The ½ horsepower models usually come with an improved warranty on the motor. ½  has the best warranty

Openers are furnished with remote controls, which are kept in your vehicle and can be furnished to open up to three doors or two doors and a gate. A keyless entry pad can be installed on the outside of your garage door to gain access from other than your vehicle. Additionally, a wall button located at the entry from your garage to your house, will allow you to open and close the door. Most wall buttons will also allow you to turn the opener lights on and off and lock out your opener when you are away for extended periods.

Federal law requires that an infrared light beam safety system be installed on all openers sold after January, 1999. The light beam senses when an object is in the path of a closing door and reverses the travel of the door to prevent injury or damage.
